Currently there are almost half a million elderly people residing in care homes and this number is expected to rise dramatically. Over the years we have developed a significant expertise in advising businesses and charities who are involved in providing care. We draw on our expertise in corporate transactions, finance, property, employment, compliance and regulation, and litigation to provide an all-round service to clients involved in the care sector.
Christine Goodyear has been involved in a significant number of acquisitions and disposals of residential care home and domiciliary care businesses. For the past twenty years she has been principal legal adviser to a major independent operator in the South East, during which time its portfolio of properties has expanded substantially. She also acted for a leading national company as it built up a chain of care homes to bring it within the top six residential care providers in the country.
Recent transactions in this sector involved the acquisition of a property formerly used as a residential hostel, for conversion into a residential care home; the acquisition of a domiciliary care agency; and acquiring residential property for a charity, and the creation of appropriate leases for the charity to grant to disabled individuals to enable them to live independently.
